Want To Craft Your Own Wedding Invitations? A Few Things You Will Need

About Me
Making Crafts Together

When my spouse and I were trying to come up with some way to make holidays more fun for our kids, we realized that it would be amazing to do some crafts together. We started focusing on selecting projects that every member of our family could handle, and within a few weeks, we were making great crafts for the upcoming holiday. It was really fun to watch the kids explore their own creativity, and after a bit, our entire home was filled with fun, personalized crafts. This website is here for anyone who loves to craft, but who might not know where to start.

Want To Craft Your Own Wedding Invitations? A Few Things You Will Need

It is pretty gutsy to craft your own wedding invitations, but you will definitely have one-of-a-kind invitations that everyone may just want to keep. It is also an incredible project to take on, given that the bride is almost always the busiest person in any wedding. However, if you are still determined to make your own invitations, it is suggested that you craft five of them every night for about a month or two, depending on the number of guests you expect to invite. To get started, you will need all of the following items.

Cardstock That Can Be Used in Your Printer

Lightweight cardstock, on which you will print the interior announcement page of each card, your RSVP cards, and any other cards you want to include, is available at most paper-crafting stores. Pick the colors you want, keeping in mind that the print/font/color of font has to show up on the cardstock you choose. Each average-sized sheet of cardstock should be able to complete at least two inner pages of the invitations.

A Paper-Crafting Cutting Machine

To make really elaborate and beautiful designs for your invitations, invest in paper-crafting machine like a "Cricut" or similar scrapbooking tool. These machines use cartridges and downloadable designs from the internet (when you hook them up to a computer) to make perfectly shaped and precision-cut cards. These machines also speed up the process because you do not have to hand-cut every invitation, nor do you have to risk tearing the paper trying to cut beautiful designs.

Paper, Glitter, Stickers

Paper is needed for the outsides of the invitation cards. Glitter and stickers are often referred to as "embellishments." It may take you some time to create a card design you really like, and then you have to decide if you have all of the right materials to make those cards that particular way. It helps when you have most of the supplies right in front of you. Then you will not have to find more supplies and revisit a craft store to get them.

Calligraphy Marker and Calligraphy Book

Maybe you are going to take this to the new level and even do all of the calligraphy in your invitations. For that you will need a calligraphy marker or marker set, a calligraphy book, and a wipe-off practice sheet until you can get the calligraphy just perfect, just the right size, and be able to consistently reproduce the results on wedding invitation paper. Then you can make a test invitation to see if you like your own calligraphy.
